Originally issued in 1969 by Doctor Bird Records on the company’s Pyramid subsidiary, ‘Israelites’ came hot on the heels of Desmond Dekker’s international smash hit of the same name.
Such was the extent of Dekker’s global success, the album was licensed to companies around the world, seeing issue on a variety of different imprints and with a diverse array of sleeve designs. Yet despite the popularity of the LP, it has remained unavailable since its original release, almost half a century ago. Now at long last, reggae fans can once again own a brand new copy of this hugely popular and significant album – at an extremely affordable price.
