Dennis Alcapone

Dennis ‘Alcapone’ Smith borned in 1947 in Clarendon, Jamaica.Working as a welder during the day and running sound systems by night, watched carefully the deejay pioneers until he catched the microphone with his small ‘El Paso’ sound system, before starting his prolific sing’jay career.
Worked with top producers in the 70’s: Keith Hudson, Clement Dodd, Duke Reid, Lee Perry, Byron Smith, Bunny Lee, Sydney Crooks and releasing at the most important labels like Big Shot, Studio One, Bamboo Records, Banana, Pyramid, Trojan, Magnet, Live & Love, etc.

His secret is the way he rejuvenated the songs giving them a brand new dimension, jockeing with his personal toasting style. He reinvented rocksteady, revolutioned the Dee Jay science starting the Alcapone-mania.
