Super Big!

Since the (Brooklyn) Attractor’s award-winning release “Good Evil Alchemy” in 2012, the instrumental Ska and Reggae group has been refining their formula and has included an impressive list of musicians. On their three previous albums, the ensemble has included three-time Grammy winning guitarist and Toots and Maytals guitar legend, Andy Bassford, congalero for Gill Scott Heron & Lee Perry, Larry McDonald, Easy Star All Stars trombonist, Buford O’sullivan, and Mephiskapheles bass extraordinaire, Dan Jeselsohn

Their 2021 third full-length studio release “Love Bombs” added Skatalites mainstay Ken Stewart, Stubborn Allstars founder King Django, Slackers tenor man, David Hillyard, as well as Thaddeus Merritt, the original Bass player and founding member of the Boston Ska group Westbound Train. While “Love Bombs” was written and recorded primarily during Covid era lockdown times and the music reflected that raw, dark, and evil energy – their new album “Super Big” is quite the opposite – it’s an emotionally upbeat journey full of jazzy ska reggae & mento. Steel pans included! It’s the perfect instrumental soundtrack for your Caribbean getaway. Once again quarterbacked by Westbound Train / Void Union veterans Rich Graiko & Thaddeus Merritt, including contributions from Buford O’Sullivan, Ken Stewart, Larry McDonald, Mike Sarason (Far East), and Riki Rocktsteady, who contributes vocals on a tune!

“My favorite thing about The Attractors is that they are students of the music. and having been around since the beginning of the music, I know what it’s supposed to sound like. They have not only respected the traditions, but they are leaning forward. It (the music) can’t stay in one place forever and they are bringing it forward. That’s what I like about the whole thing.” Larry McDonald (Gil Scott-Heron, Bob Marley and Lee Perry)

“I love [The Attractors] horn section; it reminds me of my old We The People days with Dean Fraser, Nambo Robinson, and Chico Chin. It’s rare that you encounter a horn section where everyone in it is both a great section player and a strong improviser, but that’s the case here.” – Andy Bassford (Toots and The Maytals, Burning Spear, The Skatalites).

Limited edition of 375 copies on white vinyl.
