Rocksteady Boy

Donnoya Drake – Rocksteady Boy | Limited Edition 7" Vinyl – Only 250 Copies Worldwide

Step back into the golden age of Jamaican music with “Rocksteady Boy,” the soulful new single from rising Jamaican singer Donnoya Drake — pressed in a strictly limited run of just 250 copies on 7-inch vinyl.

On the A-side, Rocksteady Boy delivers everything lovers of vintage Jamaican sounds crave: a warm, mid-60s rocksteady groove driven by a lilting bassline, sharp guitar skanks, soulful harmonies, and Donnoya Drake’s rich, heartfelt vocal performance. Nostalgic yet fresh, it’s a tune that feels right at home alongside the classics of Alton Ellis, Phyllis Dillon, and Ken Boothe.

The B-side flips the script with an instrumental Version featuring Italian trombonist Michele Fortunato. Here, Fortunato’s mellow, melodic trombone lines dance effortlessly over the rocksteady rhythm, adding a new depth and jazzy warmth to the riddim while keeping the vintage spirit alive.

This release is a true collector’s piece:
