Conga Soul
Cuban-born percussionist Cándido de Guerra Camero, also known simply as Candido, backed numerous jazz acts since the 1950s. One of the first musicians to use the congas in jazz music, along with Diego Iborra and Chano Pozo, Candido played with Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Taylor, Stan Kenton, and Charlie Parker, among many others.
Presented here is his complete 1962 LP Conga Soul, also featuring Jimmy Cleveland on trombone and pianist Lalo Schifin, responsible for all of the arrangements.
